This project was born out of being one of the only solutions to a difficult problem.
The new build behind the house established themselves way above grade which created major water problems. A concrete company came in and fixed the foundation as well as poured a new concrete patio and drainage. But, they left a huge scar of ugly clear gravel right in the middle of the yard. Their solution was to cover it with black mulch - yikes!
We came up with the idea for a Zen Rock Garden from seeing all the oriental art they had collected in their home as well as some of the statues dotting the garden.
Square cut flagstone is one of our favourite products to work with. These are stones that will age beautifully and last many lifetimes. Investing in stones like this ensures you have something that can get re-purposed for decades and beyond.
With a zen garden rake, the chip stone can be moulded into flowing lines that evoke the calming feelings we get when looking out on a body of water.
This was a special project. Each stone was carefully selected for interest and character.
